"Antioquia hails from the San Francisco Bay area but started in Ecuador when two North Americans met on a bus to Colombia. They traveled together to the department (State) of Antioquia, found a house in the hills, and began playing music. After many adventures and a trip to Vancouver Craig Miller (drums) and Adley Penner (guitar) relocated to San Francisco where they found bassist Paul Martin and singer/percussionist Maddy Striecek.
Antioquia creates its “unique sound by drawing tropical funk grooves and pulsing tribal rhythms from Cuba, Brazil, West Africa and Colombia” (Brian Echon West Coast Performer). “With a willfully eclectic sensibility, Antioquia prides itself on lively experimentation that never forgets the dance floor. It’s hard not to get up and move to the bands infectious music” (Paul Davis, Metro Santa Cruz).
In addition to playing music, Antioquia has joined revolutionaries worldwide by launching their Save the Dinosaurs Project in which it will gradually wean its music off fossil fuels by utilizing waste veggie oil and bicycle pedal power (for more information see www.postpeakoilrock.com)."
